Measurement Uncertainty Assessment for a 5G Millimeter Wave OTA Test System

5G adopts massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology and exploits millimeter wave (mm-Wave) frequencies and larger bandwidths so that the traditional conducted testing method is not feasible any more for 5G mm-Wave devices while radiated over the air (OTA) testing is required. The method of determining the accuracy of OTA testing is to assess the uncertainty budget including all relevant contributions to the accuracy. In this work the uncertainty assessment for Total Radiated Power (TRP) / Equivalent Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) measurement of a mm-Wave Compact Antenna Test Range (CATR) test system has been implemented, and the results well satisfy the 3GPP specifications. This paper provides an effective and overall verification for MU assessment method of mm-Wave test system.
