A Hybrid Scheme Based on Embedded Structures and PRS for In-band Decoupling of Base Station Antennas

A novel hybrid scheme based on embedded structures and partially reflective surfaces (PRS) has been proposed for decoupling of base station antennas. The embedded structures is the integration of baffle and transmission line used for E-plane and H-plane decoupling. The introduction of PRS further broadens the decoupling bandwidth and stabilizes the radiating characteristics. A 2×1×2 dual-polarized base station antennas array has been validated, and the results show that the array has a wide bandwidth from 3.2 to 4.6GHz (35.9%) and the simulated isolations within 0.49λ antenna element spacing are better than 25dB. In addition, radiating characteristics are also enhanced.
