A Coincident-Phase-Center Dual-Polarized Flared Notch Antenna with High Port Isolation and Low Cross-Polarization Level

A high port isolation low cross-polarization dual polarized flared notch antenna with coincident phase centers is proposed in this paper. The feeding structures of traditional dual-polarized flared notch antennas are suffered from physical interference leading to separated phase centers. A balanced feeding structure based on improved Marchand balun is introduced to solve this problem. The high degree of symmetry of this dual-polarized antenna leads to low cross-polarization and high isolation between the orthogonal polarizations. Compare with traditional flared notch antenna, the simulated results demonstrate that cross-polarization level and port isolation of the proposed dual-polarized antenna is improved about 20 dB and 15 dB, respectively. Therefore, the proposed dual-polarized antenna is suitable for wideband and dual-polarized phased array systems.
