A Broadband Miniaturized Planar Spiral Antenna for Strong Electromagnetic Environment Monitoring

In order to meet the requirement of monitoring the strong electromagnetic environment in space, the design of broadband miniaturized planar spiral antenna is presented in this paper, the dual arms of the spiral antenna adopt a new sinusoidal loading method whose amplitude increases linearly with the angle to realize the miniaturized of the antenna. |⩽-9dB, the relative bandwidth reaches 115%,the outer diameter of the antenna radiating surface is 72.38mm, which is about 51.5% less than the aperture area of conventional planar Archimedes spiral antenna. The proposed antenna has good radiation and directionality characteristics which can be widely used in the field of national defense and mobile communication.
