A Pattern and Polarization Reconfigurable Dielectric Resonator Antenna

In this paper, a dual-port dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is designed and simulated. The polarization and the pattern of the antenna can be reconfigured by changing the states of the PIN diodes and the control signals fed to the 2 ports. The antenna can generate 8 different tilted beams and 4 vertical beams with different polarization. For all the states, in the range of 3.39 GHz to 3.86 GHz, both |S

| is less than -22.5 dB. The advantage of the antenna is that the number of radiation states can be increased without using more diodes, and both reconfigurable polarization and pattern can be realized thanks to the dual-port feeding.
