Python Program for Failure Prediction Using Mohr's Coulomb Method

Materials are exposed to various types of loads, and they pose a challenge to the engineers. Loads of high energy and gust loads produce failures under these conditions. The solutions to failure mechanisms can be implemented analytically and graphically. To introduce new properties to the materials, there is a requirement to develop a database for predictions. In this paper, the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion is developed using Python programming to generate the data. There are many failure theories, and there are many new theories that are not explored to a greater extent in failure analysis. The new theories introduce new aspects like multi-axis loading, shear stress, and characterization based on eccentric loading. Python programming, along with SciPy, Matplotlib, and NumPy failure analysis, is explored and reflected in this paper. Two axis stresses along with a shear stress component are used to fit the curve onto the principal stresses and maximum shear stress components.
