Simulation of HEV Power System with New Nonoverlapping Induction Starter-Generator

This article explores mathematical simulation of operating modes of a HEVs power system with an automatic control system in a vehicle that provides two voltage levels for on-board consumers. The studied installation includes a nonoverlapping induction starter-generator (ISG) with a new compact stator winding and integrated electronic control. The simulation features of a such ISG are described. The analysis of the operating modes of a such power unit is carried out. Mathematical and digital models of quasi-steady and dynamic modes of this ISG, electrically connected to a capacitive electric power storage (supercapacitors), are presented. The digital model of the power unit is implemented as a complex of computer programs, which obtain simulation results as computated variable electromagnetic processes functions during the automatic control of the ISG. A comparison between the digital model simulation results and experimental data is presented. The comparison has demonstrated sufficient accuracy of the digital model.
