Numerical Analysis of Polarized Anomalous Electromagnetic Diffraction via the Ground Surface PlasmaWave Associated with Earthquakes

Anomalous diffractions of radiowaves that are polarized perpendicular to the surface of the landform are observed before earthquakes. The mechanism of the diffraction has been studied by numerical analysis using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method by implementing the three-dimensional (3D) digital elevation model (DEM) of the actual landform of mountain peaks and coastlines, which reasonably explains the observed phenomena.
