Photonic Integrated Circuits in RF Beamforming for Optimized 5G/6G Wireless Communications

We demonstrate new phased array architectures that use photonic integrated circuits (PIC) to process the complete RF beamspace and spectral channelization. Broadband systems based on bulk optical devices will be demonstrated with low noise figure operation (~7 dB) over a 20 to 40 GHz bandwidth as will candidate PIC based implementations.
