Sensorless Control Techniques for Variable Magnetomotive Force Motors Using Magnetic Flux Estimation

Recently, VMFMs have been proposed as drive motors for high-performance home appliances and electric vehicles, improving on the issues of PMSMs. In VMFM with a wide range of variable flux, the control system becomes unstable due to parameter errors. In this paper, we propose a control configuration in which the variable flux of the VMFM is detected online and fed back to the control. We experimentally verify the difference in control response when the flux true value is applied to sensorless control, speed control, and current control and when it is not applied, and report on the usefulness of the proposed method.
