Research on Magnetic Properties and Transmission Characteristics of Spherical Magnetic Coupler

Based on the transmission principles of traditional magnetic couplers, a spherical magnetic coupler has been proposed to address the issue of multi-angle transmission. Geometric parameters of the magnets have been designed through a numerical analysis method, and results comparing circular, square, fan, and rectangle shapes have been analyzed. The transmission characteristics for different types of magnets have been studied through finite element modeling. Through simulation, cloud maps of magnetic induction intensity, eddy current magnetic density, and output torque at various angles have been obtained, revealing the impact of different magnet types and magnetic pole numbers on transmission performance. The study concludes that circular magnets with eight magnetic poles demonstrate the best driving effect and that the output torque stability of the spherical magnetic coupler is not influenced by magnet type during the transmission process. The findings and recommendations of this study can inform the design optimization of spherical magnetic couplers and the selection of permanent magnet types.
