Dual Band Notch and Dual Port MIMO Antenna with End Fire Radiation Pattern for UWB Applications

In this paper a dual band notch Vivaldi Antenna (VA) with two port MIMO characteristics has been presented for Ultrawideband (UWB) applications. Initially a vivaldi structured antenna has been investigated with the bandwidth of 153%, which is more than UWB, formally known as Super Wideband (SWB). Further a complimentary split ring resonator (C-SRR) has been etched out to create a band notch in C-Band and another stub has been added in the close proximity of the feedline to create the band notch in X-band. Proposed structure further investigated with the MIMO capabilities for two ports and observed results are satisfying the criteria for MIMO applications. The proposed design has been realized physically and tested in the laboratory. Results of simulation and measurements are matching closely that can be well suited for modern wireless communication systems.
