A new asymmetric inverter with minimum number of switch count

Multilevel inverters (MLI) have piqued the interest of researchers for both high-power as well as medium-power applications. However, a configuration with minimal devices seems to be in trend in hopes of boosting effectiveness and reliability. This article proposes a novel single-phase MLI structure to minimize the quantity of switching devices in the circuit while enhancing the output voltage level. The proposed system yields 13 levels at the output by incorporating three DC voltage sources and eight switches. To develop gating signals, the level-shifted pulse width modulation (LSPWM) technique is used. The effectiveness of the suggested topology is explored using MATLAB/Simulink with various parametric conditions.
