Estimation of Image Charge on Electrodes in Space Charge Measurements with Pulsed Electroacoustic Analyzer

Data from space charge measurements using the Pulsed Electro Acoustic (PEA) system are distorted due to the presence of image charges on the electrodes. The distortion of the signal is significant in the vicinity of the electrodes since injected charge often tends to accumulate in this region. In layered dielectrics, the amount of image charges may be significantly higher due to interfacial charge accumulation. In this paper, equations for image charge estimation in homogeneous and layered dielectrics are formulated. These equations are further applied to space charge data for a 2 layered dielectric sample.
