Security Check Considering Japanese Electricity Market for Power Systems with a Large Photovoltaic Power Generation

In daily power system operations under an increasingly competitive environment, the system operator assembles multiple supply-demand schedules that generation companies create independently. The security of the schedules considering both the supply-demand constraints and grid constraints of the assembled schedules must be checked before current-day operation. Thus, it is necessary to consider the impact of distributed renewable energy on such constraints. In this study, a security check method applicable to power system operation under the Japanese electricity market is proposed. The proposed method clarifies the condition of the grid constraint violations through numerical simulations conducted on the modified IEEE Reliability Test System model.
