Development of a network-based ultra-precision fluidic micro-pump system

In this study, the authors focus on the development of a fluidic pumping system that can operate via the network at an ultra-precision level. The prototype system composes of two independent micro-pumps connected via a LAN network, a high-resolution camera, and a Windows-based application that allows the user to operate the system with ease. Each syringe pump channel can operate independently and obtain a minimum flow rate of 10 nano-litters per hour and an infusion accuracy of 0.3%. The system has been deployed in an electrospinning system to fabricate nanofibers at Applied Mechatronics Lab, Phenikaa University. The network-based ultra-precision micro-pump system can be upgraded to 16 independent micro-pumps and applied for a variety of applications such as microfluidics, nanofabrication, high-precision actuator system, bio-applications, biomedicine, and micro-droplet liquid handling.
