Effects Of Phase Shifted Three phase Winding On the Performance of A Large Scale Wound Rotor Synchronous Machine

Non-overlapping windings are attractive for their cost effectiveness, but their main disadvantage is high harmonic content in the magneto motive force waveform. This is evident through noise and vibrations which deteriorate machine performance. Phase shifting techniques can help alleviate these unwanted harmonics, but it may add costs to include external circuits. This work explores the performance of two phase shifted winding that require no external circuits and can be directly connected to the grid.
