A Compact MIMO Antenna with Frequency Selective Surface Cells for 5G Applications

In this paper, a multi-band MIMO antenna for Sub-6G communication is proposed. Two operating bands are generated by the combination of two rectangular frame structures of different sizes. In addition, by designing and loading frequency selective surface cells and then arranging them appropriately, the antenna is miniaturized to improve the isolation of the antenna while ensuring a compact structure. The results show that the -10dB return loss bandwidth of the antenna is 3.38-3.58GHz and 4.43-6.30GHz, which can cover the n78 and n79 bands in 5G communication. Furthermore, the antenna has good radiation and diversity characteristics with the isolation less than -15dB in the operating band.
