Circularly Polarized Metasurface Antenna for Search and Rescue Radar Transponder

A circularly polarized metasurface antenna for search and rescue radar transponder (SART) is designed and discussed in this paper. The antenna is a double-layer structure with metasurface radiation patch, ground floor and microstrip line loaded on two layers of substrate respectively. The circular polarization design of the metasurface structure is carried out using the characteristic mode theory. The simulation results show that the proposed antenna can work well in the SART working band (9.2GHz-9.5GHz) and realize circular polarization.
