Chaotic characteristic analysis of daily irrigation return flow time series

In order to identify the chaotic characteristics of daily irrigation return flow time series and find out its movement and change law in the phase space, this paper takes daily irrigation return flow time series of Hexi Irrigation area which in the Northwest China as an example, and uses the saturated correlation dimension method to identify the chaos characteristic of the time series and reconstruct the phase space, The results shows: when the embedding dimension increases to a certain extent, the correlation dimension of the phase space will not increase any more, so it can be judged that the time series of daily irrigation return flow has chaotic characteristics; through phase space reconstruction, it is found that the time delay of its phase space is 8 and its embedding dimension is 10;by analyzing the chaotic characteristics of daily irrigation return flow time series, it is found that its phase space correlation dimension is only 1.78, it indicates that the strange attractor in its phase space is not too complex, and its motion trajectory can be simulated according to the results of chaotic characteristics analysis, a time series model is established to predict the daily irrigation return flow, the accuracy of the model is improved, which shows that the phase space reconstruction is effective.
