A Novel Multi-Source Inverter with Optimal Design

This paper presents a novel topology for a multi-source inverter used in electric vehicles. The proposed topology has a reduced component count. Thus, optimizes the size, cost, power loss, and reliability of this inverter. It introduces a new modular MSI topology with reduced component counts that produces all the possible combinations of the DC storage sources for enhanced controllability over the entire performance range of the electric traction motor. Moreover, a space vector modulation (SVM) technique is proposed for controlling the switching actions of the introduced MSI topology. The performance of the proposed MSI topology and the adopted SVM technique is demonstrated through the design, the in-agreement PSIM simulation and experimental results from a laboratory prototype.
