Design of Dielectric Resonator Based Low Profile Dual Band Antenna for Wlan and C Band Applications

A low-profile dual-band cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna(CDRA) with a defected ground surface (DGS) is discussed in this article. Wide bandwidth is achieved by creating three modified dumbbell-shaped slots in the ground plane. The CDRA is placed over a square ring patch feed with a microstrip line feeding to resonate at two resonant frequencies 5.32 GHz and 7.63 GHz. | < −15 dB and has peak gains of 8 dBi at 5.32 GHz and 5 dBi at 7.63 GHz respectively. This radiating system is a good candidate for the WLAN (5.32 GHz), S-band applications like airport surveillance, and C-Band applications.
