Misalignment Tolerance of Electric Vehicle Wireless Charging System based on Multiple Decoupled Receiving Coils and Series Connected Diode Rectifiers

Wireless power transfer (WPT) has been used in various fields, such as electric vehicles (EVs). Misalignment tolerance is an important characteristic to evaluate the WPT system performance, especially in the EV wireless charging system. This paper proposes a decoupling method for multiple receiving coils and the series connected diode rectifiers to achieve misalignment tolerance. Three receiving coils are designed to be decoupled from each other and the sum of the absolute values of their mutual inductances with the transmitting coil are smoothed to improve the anti-offset performance. The mathematical model is built and analyzed. The expressions of the output current, output voltage, output power, and transfer efficiency have been derived. The experimental results reveal that the proposed WPT system can achieve misalignment tolerance with high efficiency.
