Numerical Simulation and Experimental Analysis of Compressive Mechanical Properties of Metal Material Lattice for Additive Manufacturing

In this paper, focusing on aerospace applications, we investigate the compressive mechanical properties of additive manufactured metal lattices using finite element method(FEM) and the asymptotic homogenization (AH) method, and compare the results with experimental data. The results show that with larger lattice rod diameter and smaller envelope size, the equivalent elastic modulus of the lattice increases. The Diamond structure(DC), Octet truss (OT), imple cubic-body-centered cubic (SCBC), and face-centered cubic (FCC) have higher equivalent elastic modulus than body-centered cubic (BCC) under the same size. The consistency of the calculation results between the finite element method and the asymptotic homogenization method is affected by the model accuracy, and reasonable calculation parameters can limit the error in the calculation results of the two methods to within 30%. The qualitative trends of the calculation results from both methods and the experimental results are consistent, but due to the influence of manufacturing processes, there is a significant numerical error between the calculation results and the experimental results.
