Research on the Self-Repairing Mechanism of Spiking Central Pattern Generator Based on Astrocyte Cell with Tripartite Synapse

This paper conducts detailed analysis and mathematical simulation of the central pattern generator network based on the self-repairing mechanism of astrocytes and conductivity-based neuron model. The dynamic process of self- repairing is analyzed in detail which reveals the importance of 2-arachiodonoylglycerol in the indirect feedback routine as well as the anti-damage mechanism of astrocytes. The simulation experiments focus on how the time attenuation feature of 2-arachiodonoylglycerol affects the network's self-repairing ability and firing pattern. Evaluations toward self-repairing abiltity under the regulation effect of astrocytes are made by observing the average spiking rate, inter-cluster firing activity and intra-burst spikes numbers. Based on experiments, we come to the conclusion that the time attenuation feature of 2-arachiodonoylglycerol decides the sensitivity that 2-arachiodonoylglycerol owns in the process of periodic fluctuation, controlling the spiking rate and functioning stability. The efficiency of information exchange between neurons should be sacrificed for stronger capability of self-repairing and spiking steadiness. To endow the central pattern generator network with spontaneous synaptic regulation ability in the case of random synaptic fracture, the time attenuation feature should meet the need of both sensitivity and stability at the same time. This research can be applied to the field of regulation mechanism of motion pattern and robot control.
