Rescheduling of Metro Traffic with a Skip-Stop Strategy after Disruption

In urban rail transit systems, disturbance and disruption occur unavoidably which will influence normal train operation. Disturbance can be handled by Automatic Train Supervision (ATS) system automatically, however, disruption is commonly handled manually by experienced and professional dispatchers. This paper focuses on the problem of metro traffic rescheduling after disruption with a skip-stop strategy. According to the dynamics of trains and passenger flow, a model of train traffics is developed to minimize the total traveling time, and a passenger flow model is proposed to minimize the number of stranded passengers. Aiming to achieve a balance between trains and passengers, an efficient algorithm is proposed to iteratively optimize these two models. Finally, simulation results are presented to show the validity of the models and the algorithm.
