Development of Monopulse Antenna Feeding System with Microstrip-Line-to-Waveguide-Transition Using SIW Technology

This paper discusses the development of microstrip line to substrate-integrated-waveguide (SIW) transition for monopulse antenna feeding system using SIW technology. A simple tapered microstrip line is applied in the implementation of transition between microstrip line and SIW to improve impedance matching, as well as to easier incorporate with other planar structures. The realization of the proposed monopulse antenna feeding network which operates at S-band frequency of 2.4 GHz uses a 1.524 mm thick Rogers RO4003C dielectric substrate. The measurement characteristics demonstrate that the realized monopulse antenna feeding network based on SIW technology can provide the isolation of around 15 dB, with the insertion loss of approximately 3 dB, the return loss of more than 15 dB, and the phase difference of around 180°.
