Compact Slot-Patch Antenna with Dual Circular Polarization

In this paper, a compact Circularly Polarized (CP) slot-patch antenna operating in dual polarization is presented. The proposed solution, designed to operate at 412 MHz, consists of a circular patch on top of a layer of dielectric substrate, backed by a circular cavity to increase radiation efficiency. The radiating patch has two slots sector notches on opposite sides and is coaxially fed in two different points to achieve both right-hand and left-hand circular polarization. The proposed design shows a minimum Axial Ratio (AR) of 1.16 dB and a gain of 5 dBi near the resonance frequency. The obtained results make the structure suitable to be integrated into array systems for satellite applications.
