Study of Anti-Lock Braking System Using GWO Tuned PID Controller

This paper describes research on the creation and assessment of a controller for an anti-lock braking system (ABS) by employing mathematical models of optimization methods. Specifically, the study uses a quarter-car model to simulate the vehicle dynamics during abrupt braking and implements a PID controller for slip control. The controller's parameters are tuned using Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) to improve its performance. The proposed controller is compared to an uncontrolled brake system and a conventional PID controller, and the results show that the GWO-tuned PID controller significantly reduces the time and distance needed for braking. In particular, the best results are achieved using the proposed approach, with a stopping distance of 40.24 meters and a stopping time of 2.869 seconds. The study also compares the proposed approach with existing literature and demonstrates its superiority. These findings suggest that the GWO-tuned PID controller is a better solution for improving the stability and safety of ABS braking systems.
