An IoT-Enabled Smart Gardening System as a Novel Approach to Environmental Education

This research proposes the fusion of augmented reality (AR) and Internet of Things (IoT) technology using fuzzy logic to educate children in an interactive manner and promote environmental empathy and responsibility. The proposed system comprises the LoRa SX1276 transceiver chip, DHT11, soil moisture sensor, and light sensor forming the sensor node module, with the ability to transmit data wirelessly over a long-range of up to 15 km with low internet connectivity. The sensor node module data undergoes a fuzzy logic controller to produce the appropriate AR animation, conveying a plant's emotions and guiding the user on the proper actions to take for the plant's health. This approach has the potential to create an engaging and immersive learning experience for children while promoting environmental awareness and responsibility.
