A Standalone Solar PV Fed Reduced Switch Multilevel Inverter

In present scenario, energy demand is increasing day by day. To reach the rising energy demand, the usage of renewable energy sources is increasing. In this literature, the integration of solar system with multilevel inverter (MLI) is presented. A reduced switch five level multilevel inverter is presented in this paper. This MLI uses 6 unidirectional switches along with two isolated DC sources. Use of fewer components i.e. switches and driver circuit makes the inverter efficient as it reduces switching and conduction losses. Solar PV is used as the multilevel inverters output to reduce the carbon emissions and work on environmentally friendly applications. The MLI has the capability of generating higher level of output voltage with less component count. The static and dynamic condition of the presented system is analyzed using Matlab/Simulink platform.
