Reconfigurable Airy-beam Beam Using Optomechanical Metasurface

A novel type of optomechanical metasurface is proposed to realize frequency reconfigurable wavefront control based on independent regulation of each element. The optomechanical meta-atom consists of an electric lump circuit (ELC) resonator, a flexible printed circuit (FPC) polyimide substrate, an air gap, and a back metallic plate. The amplitude and phase of meta-atom can be manipulated based on its orientation rotation. Moreover, the current induced between ELC resonator and metallic ground is dependent on incident power intensity and thus can generate different Ampere force to drive FPC to deform, and thus enable to increase the height of the air gap. Then the height-varied air gap can affect the state of meta-atom and thus shift its operation (resonant) frequency. Above individual amplitude and phase control of the meta-atom based on rotation of ELC resonator can be utilized to design an Airy beam generator, while its operation frequency can be shifted from 28.40 to 28.75 GHz (frequency reconfigurability) by magnifying incident intensity. Our strategy of optomechanical metasurface provides an efficient approach for beam scanning and approximate no-diffraction beam generator.
