An Subgridding Finite Differnce Method for Electro-Thermal Modeling

Finite difference method (FDM) can conveniently study the mechanism and process of electric and thermal coupling in a circuit, but it does not have an advantage in dealing with multi-scale problems because the grid of the computational space needs to be finely divided. However, there are often multi-scale structures in circuits, which will restrict the computational efficiency of the FDM. In this paper, a subgridding technique was introduced into the FDM for electro-thermal modeling. The effectiveness of the algorithm is verified comparing with software COMSOL.
