Simulation of Two-Dimensional Time Varying Sea Surfaces from JONSWAP Spectra

According to stochastic wave theory, this paper completed numerical simulations of three different sea surface models from JONSWAP spectra under the condition of infinite water depth. The two-dimensional elevations of the 300m×300m sea surfaces in the linear, the Creamer model, and the CWM model are contrasted. Though with a roughly similar overall shape, compared with the linear model, the Creamer model exactly shows the breaking wave, and the CWM model shows the fluctuations in the rising and falling part of the waves. With the analyses of their one-dimensional elevations and statistical characteristics, references for the selection of sea surface are provided with respect to the nonlinear characteristic and frequency.
