Optimizing Energy Consumption in UAV-Assisted Data Transmission Through User-Aware Caching

This paper addresses the challenge of energy-efficient data transmission using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in emergency scenarios, taking into account the lightweight and flexible deployment nature of UAVs, which limits their caching capabilities and energy supply. To minimize the total network energy consumption, we propose a dynamic caching optimization approach based on the knapsack algorithm, considering the constraints of UAV caching and communication resources. We derive an expression for the expected transmission energy consumption based on user distribution, and present a closed expression for low-noise scenarios. To facilitate joint optimization of transmission and caching strategies, we employ the primary decomposition method to decouple the optimization problem in the time domain. Through simulations, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, which provides a practical solution for reducing energy consumption in UAV-assisted data transmission.
