An Innovative Method for Rapid Bias Calibration of Inertial Navigation Systems for Nonlaboratory Conditions

To address the limitations of traditional calibration methods for inertial navigation systems in secondary calibration processes, this article proposes a rapid bias calibration method based on integer period rotation using a single-axis servo turntable. The principle of this method leverages the projection characteristics of the Earth’s rotation rate and gravitational acceleration onto the horizontal axis to perform circumferential compensation and quarter-period integration. This method can achieve an accuracy comparable to the traditional 12-positions method. More importantly, it demonstrates good applicability to nonlaboratory field conditions as well. It eliminates the dependence of traditional calibration methods on specialized equipment, such as high-precision marble platforms and turntables, and has no orientation requirements. It simplifies the calibration process, improves work efficiency, and demonstrates superior versatility.
