Effect of Metallization Ratio on the Sensitivity of GC-IDEs Based Immunosensor

The sensitivity of an immunosensor mainly depends on its electrode geometry and the proper choice of biorecognition element. The sensitivity of the immunosensor could be improved by varying the metallization ratio of the interdigitated electrodes (IDEs). In this letter, the effect of metallization ratio on the sensitivity of glassy carbon IDEs (GC-IDEs) based immunosensor was presented. The GC-IDEs were fabricated using standard photolithography. The capacitance response was obtained for various bovine serum albumin concentrations (0.125–1 µg/ml) using nonfaradaic electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements. The GC-IDEs showed a higher measurement sensitivity of 13.48% for a 0.7 metallization ratio as compared to 4.4% that of 0.5 metallization ratio.
