Study on Magnetic Properties of La-doped Fe-Ga Polycrystalline Films

This paper reports the effect of La composition on magnetic properties of Fe-Ga-La polycrystalline films toward improvement of magnetic softness and high-frequency magnetic properties of Fe-Ga polycrystalline films. The magnetic softness of Fe-Ga-La films got better as the La composition was increased. The saturation magnetostriction of these films slightly increased at the La composition of 0.9, whereas linearly decreased to 3.8×10
⁻⁵
at the La composition more than 0.9. Furthermore, the in-plane effective damping constant became lower as the La composition was increased, and their values were approximately one-half to one-quarter lower than that of Fe-Ga polycrystalline films. Thus, these results are revealed that both magnetic softness and high frequency magnetic properties of Fe-Ga-La films can be significantly improved by adjusting the amount of La.
