Development of TbCu7-type Sm-Fe-N anisotropic magnet powder by low-temperature build-up process using molten salt

Anisotropic TbCu7-type Sm-Fe-N magnet powder was developed using TbCu7-type Sm-Fe alloy powder synthesized by modifying low-temperature Ca reduction diffusion process. Using Sm metal powder instead of SmCl
3
and Ca, an almost single-phase TbCu
7
-type Sm-Fe powder was obtained. By nitriding the powder with an NH
3
-H
2
mixture gas, a TbCu7-type Sm-Fe-N anisotropic magnet powder was fabricated. Its magnetic properties of magnetization at field of 90 kOe σ
90kOe
, remanence ratio σ
r
/σ
90kOe
and coercivity were 138.5 emu/g, 0.64 and 6.3 kOe, respectively.
