Feasibility Study of Universal Power Electronics Interface Operation in 350 V and 700 V Residential DC Microgrids

The paper focuses on extending the applicability of the universal power electronics interface to two voltage standards of residential dc microgrids. The studied converter can seamlessly integrate various types of photovoltaic (PV) modules and battery energy storage types into the dc microgrids utilizing the same hardware platform. Using the topology morphing control (TMC), the proposed converter features a wide operating voltage range and high efficiency in both directions of power flow. Moreover, the TMC allows for doubling the voltage gain range for operation with different dc microgrid voltages. Experimental results show how the converter efficiency differs during its operation in 350 V or 700 V residential dc microgrids.
