Single-Satellite Interference Geolocation using Rainfall Data

Passive geolocation of an interference emitter using a single geostationary satellite is considered. The proposed geolocation approach exploits the attenuation effect of rainfall on the received satellite signal, only measures the power fluctuation of the interfering signal over a period of time, then performs similarity analysis on the signal attenuation and the rainfall characteristics of different regions to determine the emitter's location. We introduce the concept of time series analysis to geolocation and propose the application of dynamic time warping in geolocation. Experiments with real-world data verify the feasibility of this geolocation approach.
