A Novel Three-Stage Rectifier with Ultrawide Input Power Range

An ultrawide input power range rectifier is proposed in this paper. It is a three-stage rectifier containing three diodes with different characteristics. The main branch includes a diode with the lowest threshold voltage while the diodes with medium and high threshold voltage are located in the subbranches. By combining these three branches, the proposed rectifier is able to achieve high power conversion efficiency (PCE) within an ultrawide input power range. Two rectifiers prototype operating at 2.4 GHz are designed and simulated. The results show that the conversion efficiency of the two rectifiers is higher than 40% within the input range from -7 to 34.5 dBm and-14 to 26.8 dBm respectively.
