Agglomeration Effect of Fe3O4 and TiO2 Based Nanofluids on Dielectric Strength of Liquid Insulation

In this study, the effect of agglomeration nanofluid based on Fe
3
O
4
and TiO
2
on the AC dielectric strength of liquid insulation was investigated. The effect of surfactant added to stabilize the homogeneity of the solution was also studied. AC breakdown voltage of transformer oil-based nanofluids was investigated under agglomerated conditions for a day and 7 days according to IEC 60156. The results show that a certain amount of nanoparticles added to transformer oil can increase its dielectric strength. The highest breakdown voltage was observed if the concentration of Fe
3
O
4
-based nanofluid was about 0.003 % and about 0.016 % of TiO
2
-based nanofluid. Surfactant was added in both nanofluids.
