A Study of Signal Integrity on Hybrid Land Grid Array Socket Connector

In this paper, the signal integrity(SI) performance on hybrid land grid array(HLGA) socket connector are studied. An innovative force mechanical solution is designed to test SI performance of HLGA socket under different terminal compression. Test results show that when the compression increases relative to the free state, the insertion loss(IL) will be smaller, and the resonance of IL and crosstalk will move to a higher frequency. Multi-physics simulation can well capture the SI performance variation versus mechanical and structural adjustments. Such findings provide a guideline to high-speed socket connector design and evaluation.
