Combined Partial Voltage and Current Power Processing DC/DC Converters for Solar PV applications

In this paper, a combined PPC architecture of partial voltage processing (PVP) converter and partial current processing (PCP) converter is proposed. The combination of two PPC architectures concept overcomes the design complexity of the controller and magnetics by. The basic system description and operation is discussed below. The power processing concept of the proposed PPC converter is described with the volt-ampere (VA) area model criterion. The partial power processing of the proposed architecture and the efficiency of combined PPC is analyzed by means of utilization factor (UF). The magnetic component parameter selection of the proposed combined PPC concept is discussed. The proposed concept is realized and verified by the 3kW prototype (1.5kW/string).
