Comparative Evaluation of Communication Protocols in the Automotive Industry

In recent life, the most contemporary communication and information technologies are increasingly used in various areas. One of these areas is the automotive industry. The normal operation of modern vehicles is ensured by multiple Electronic Control Units (ECUs) requiring fast, secure, and reliable communication. This is accomplished using various automotive communication protocols, namely Controller Area Network (CAN), Local Interconnect Network (LIN), FlexRay, Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST), and Ethernet. This report presents a complex comparative evaluation of these protocols to determine the most suitable one for interconnection with the main ECUs.
