Smart Assistive Wearable Device for Alzheimer's Patients

Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a progressive brain disease that affects patients and their relatives emotionally. Patients experience an ongoing increase in memory loss, thus forgetting the names of their close people. The device is implemented using Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi camera. Raspberry Pi was programmed using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for face detection, the ResNet-50 model for feature extraction, and Support Vector Machine (SVM) for classification, integrated with an audio output. This project aims to develop a device for AD patients in the first stage and earlier of the second stage by implementing a face recognition (FR) system that will help them recognize their families and friends.
