Identification of Influential Genes and Comorbidities of Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal Cancer (CRC) is the most malignant tumor of the large intestine. In the beginning, some non-cancerous clumps of cells called polyps grow inside the intestine and over the time some of those polyps become CRC. People who are affected by CRC have a significant risk of occurring comorbidities like amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, attention deficit disorder, heart failure, systemic lupus erythematous, etc. Influential genes (IFGs) identification is one of the most important steps for discovering therapeutic treatment of cancer. We have identified significant IFGs of CRC for TCGA dataset. We have used Kruskal-Wallis test and Bonferroni correction methods and identified 24 significant IFGs from 16296 genes. Furthermore, employing those IFGs we have utilized comorbidities, PPIs, protein-chemical interactions, evolutionary relationships between comorbidities of CRC. This study gives a premise to recognize the IFGs and gave insight into the impacts of CRC on comorbidities progression.
