Characterization of ‘Early Career Stage’ Researchers from their Co-authorship Network

In scientific research work, collaboration always plays an important role. Although the development of new collaboration is mostly aligned among the established researchers. However, the need for collaboration of the Early Career-stage Researcher (ECR) plays a crucial role in his career development and the growth of scientific works in the concerned domain. In this work, we address ECR in the scientific co-authorship network and characterize their behavior. We analyze the pub-lication and collaboration pattern of the ECRs in the first ten years of their career and compare the same with the early career stage period of established researchers. Note that, we use h-index distributions of the authors to find the established researcher. We provide the experimental evaluation of our propose approach on the AMiner Author dataset and we observe that the very initial stage of ECR and established researchers' publications and collaboration patterns are very similar, as the established researchers get matured their collaboration patterns vary a lot.
