Integrating Nanofillers to Enhance The Electrical and Thermal Characteristics of Epoxy Micro Composites

The impact of incorporating different types of nano fillers, such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs), graphene nano platelets (GNPs), and boron nitride nanosheets (BNNSs) on the thermal and electrical properties of epoxy micro composites were investigated in this study. Varying concentrations of nanofillers were added to epoxy resin, and the nanocomposites were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermal - conductivity measurements, and electrical - conductivity measurements. The results showed significant improvements in the thermal and electrical properties of the epoxy micro composites due to the addition of nanofillers. The thermal conductivity of the composites increased with the addition of CNTs and GNPs, while BNNSs demonstrated the highest increase in thermal conductivity at a lower loading concentration. The electrical conductivity of the composites also increased with the addition of nanofillers, with GNPs showing the highest increase. The SEM images revealed that the nanofillers were well-dispersed and uniformly distributed in the epoxy matrix, indicating good interfacial adhesion. This study demonstrates that incorporating nanofillers is an effective approach to enhance the thermal and electrical properties of epoxy micro composites in automotive industries. Further research can help optimize the type and concentration of nanofiller for specific applications.
